Molecular Laboratory assistant

We have an opening for a laboratory assistant to support the day-to-day laboratory upkeep and NGS workflows.

Microomics is a spin-off company of the CRG (Center for Genomic Regulation) and ICREA (Catalan Institution for Research and Advanced Studies) specialized in providing solutions in the field of metagenomics. We are located in Barcelona (Spain) at the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB) within a very stimulating environment for science and research. With a highly innovative profile, our philosophy and objective is to transform genomic data into knowledge that contributes to the development of society through sustainable growth and the improvement of health and well-being.

Description of the job:

The candidate will be responsible for providing support in the molecular biology lab. This person will carry out sample preparation from nucleic acid extraction to PCR and sequencing library preparation. The candidate will participate in Microomics’ own R+D+i projects as well as day-to-day lab production for services.  This person will work closely with the Lab Manager but will also interact with the rest of the Microomics’ team.


Background in Biology, Microbiology and/or Biotechnology. A laboratory technician degree is desirable (i.e. Spanish’ formación en nivel técnico superior).

At least six months experience in molecular biology are required

Good organization skills and attention to detail are a must.

Good English level as understanding of bioinformatics and statistical knowledge are a plus.
